Our Vision
A Leader in Building Champions Skate Canada is committed to the development of personal excellence through participation in skating. Skate Canada is dedicated to providing Canadians the opportunity to participate in skating throughout their lifetime for fun, fitness, and achievement.

Western Ontario Section is 1 of 4 Skate Canada Sections within the province of Ontario, and 1 of 13 Sections within Skate Canada. Each section is administered by an elected or appointed Section Executive and Board of Directors. The WOS Board is in place to administer the Section, to insure that Skate Canada programs are run efficiently and to plan and provide programs to develop and enhance participation by skaters of all ages, abilities, interests and ambitions. It is also a resource body which offers support to its members and currently 113 member clubs.

CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. When you sign up for CanSkate you will be in a program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. You will earn badges and other incentives as you learn fundamental skating skills. Lessons are given in a group format and led by an NCCP certified professional coach. Professional coaches are assisted by trained Program Assistants.

StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.

Synchronized Skating, or “synchro” is a specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers. The objective is for the team to perform as one unit executing circles, blocks, lines, wheels and intersections in unison to the music, while demonstrating quality edges, power and flow. Skate Canada’s SynchroSkate program includes a number of Synchronized Skating categories which accommodate skaters at any age and skill level.

Golden Skate’s objective is to continue to supply the online figure skating community with frequent news, articles, competition results, and other related information. Golden Skate also strives to stimulate meaningful, educational and fun dialogue in the forum in order to promote a safe and friendly environment in which the online skating community can interact.
